I was the QUEEN of brownie boxes. Middle school Friday night was a date night with my sister & a Ghiradelli brownie box. @LIV can verify. If you're feeling bold though, try this from scratch brownie recipe. It's FUDGY. So cake lover brownie people?? this recipe isn't for you. (& I'm sorry, but I simply don't understand you "prefers cake-like-brownies" people... to each their own, I guess).
R E C I P E
5 tablespoons of unsalted butter
3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips
3/4 cup white sugar
2 large eggs
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/3 cup all purpose flour
1/4 cup chocolate chips. OR 1/4 cup smashed Oreos OR BOTH
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.
Melt chocolate with butter (in double boiler or in microwave with 30 second intervals)
Once just melted (don't go overboard), stir in the sugar with a rubber spatula
Stir stir stir - it will be grainy at first, keep stirring
Add the eggs & stir in between. The batter will start to look glossy & pretty & lovely
Add the salt & vanilla, & then all the flour.
Fold the flour, it will be kind of difficult to maneuver, & the flour may go everywhere in your kitchen if you're not delicate.
Stir until dry ingredients are incorporated.
Add in 1/4 cup of chocolate chips (or crushed Oreos) or anything else you may want to add. Could be walnuts, or maybe orange zest if you're feeling fancy? This recipe is super versatile.
Put in an 8"by 8" square pan. Bake for 25 - 30 minutes.
